About This Project

In the next one minute, two children will be sold globally. In the next 8 minutes, one child will go missing in India. Each year, around 25 million people are trafficked all around the world. An atrocity like human trafficking needs to be defeated by a collective front. From police and prosecutors to common citizens, we each have a role to play in combating human trafficking.
Telangana State Police, Women Safety Wing, British Deputy High Commission Hyderabad and Tharuni NGO (www.tharuni.org) came together for a collaborative effort against this crime. ‘Dhruva’ Webportal is an initiative of this effort to curb human trafficking in Telangana. It is a by-product of a larger effort being made through the project “Strengthening of AHTUs in Telangana State by Effective Prosecution & Prevention of Human Trafficking Cases”.
We believe that understanding the problem and learning about it is the first step towards change. ‘Dhruva’ is a knowledge portal that strives to increase awareness amongst various stakeholders ranging from police and prosecutors to citizens. From conceptual explanations to protocols and guidelines, ‘Dhruva’ serves as a database to understand everything related to human trafficking. The onus is on each and every one of us to make this world a safer space for the current and future generations.
